Program 1 of 3
Apprenticeship Training
The NOMCG Apprenticeship Training program connects emerging craftspeople with master artisans in a structured mentorship framework rooted in the guild tradition.
Apprentices gain practical experience in ironwork, woodworking, plastering, and other heritage trades while learning the business and cultural context that sustains these crafts in New Orleans.
The program culminates in a journeyman review where participants demonstrate mastery of their trade skills to a panel of master craftsmen.

Program 2 of 3
Business Development
Many of New Orleans' most skilled artisans lack the business infrastructure to sustain their craft as a livelihood. NOMCG's Business Development program closes that gap.
Workshops cover pricing strategy, contract negotiation, insurance, licensing, social media marketing, and accessing preservation and restoration project pipelines.
Participants leave with a business plan, a professional portfolio, and connections to contractors, architects, and preservation organizations across the Gulf South.

Program 3 of 3
Cultural Engagement
The Cultural Engagement program positions NOMCG's master craftsmen as cultural ambassadors, connecting the public to the living heritage of New Orleans' built environment.
Programming includes craft demonstrations at community festivals, school residencies, museum partnerships, and the annual Masters Exhibition — a juried showcase of guild work.
By making these trades visible and celebrated, we build the public appreciation and patronage that sustains the next generation of New Orleans artisans.
